JAMAICA 2008
Jamaica here we come again. We couldn't stay way from the fun and sun that Jamaica
offers.
Imagine paradise. A fascinating place you’ve always dreamed about.
Tropical beaches surrounded by luxuriant nature, where the reddish
sparkles of sunset light and colorful exotic setting. Imagine a place
in which a landscape full
of life stretches out its beauty under water offering a unique and
unforgettable spectacle.
Now, how could you stay away from that?
Reunion 2008 destination was Jamaica's Starfish
Trelawney Resort & Spa. This watery wonderland,
all-inclusive resort is situated on a three-mile
stretch of powder white sands and sparkling sapphire waters
had a bevy of activities and entertainment while serving up a
healthy dose of food for everyone.
Even though lounging in the sun is fun, we couldn't go back to
Jamaica
without learning more about our country's history (Green Grotto) and
visiting one of Jamaica's national treasures (Dunns River).
Green Grotto
caves are located between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.
The caves are rich in history and can be
identified with different groups of people. The first Jamaicans, the Arawak Indians (Tainos), found shelter in the caves initially.
The caves can also be identified with
period between the two world wars where they were used by
smugglers running arms to Cuba and the Government of Jamaica using the entrance of the
cave as a storeroom for rum in barrels. Dunns River
is one of Jamaica's national treasures. Globally, it is as
recognizable as reggae music. Described as a living and growing phenomenon, Dunns River continuously regenerates itself from deposits of travertine rock.
The combination of being located near to the sea, gives Dunn's River
the distinction of being the only one of its kind in the Caribbean,
if not the world. We enjoyed our Dunns River experience either by
climbing (crazy) the Falls, lounging on the beach, riding on jet
skies, or splashing in the water while enjoying the array of fruits
provided by Lawrence (committee member).
